How to Complete Your Budget:

  • Farm Setup: Start by giving your budget a name and selecting your primary production region.
  • Select Enterprises: Check the boxes for all crop or livestock enterprises you want to include in this budget. Click "Apply Enterprise Selection."
  • Enterprise Details: For each selected enterprise, a new section will appear.
    • Enter the total "Area (Hectares)" for crops or "Number of Units" (e.g., LSU, Birds) for livestock.
    • For crops, specify the "Expected Yield per Hectare" and the "Yield Unit" (e.g., tons). Compare with the displayed 2024 CEC average if available.
    • For livestock, specify "Expected Production per Unit" (e.g., weaners sold per LSU) and the "Production Unit" (e.g., heads).
    • Enter the "Expected Price" you anticipate receiving per unit of your yield/production.
  • Variable Costs:
    • Within each enterprise, various cost categories are listed (e.g., Seed, Fertilizer, Feed).
    • For each cost category, input specific cost items. Click "Add Item" to add more rows.
    • For each item, provide a "Description," "Quantity," "Unit" (e.g., kg, L, bag), and "R/Unit" (cost per that unit). The "Total (R)" for that line item will calculate automatically.
    • Important: All variable costs should be entered as costs *per Hectare* for crops, or *per Unit* (e.g., per LSU, per Bird) for livestock, based on the "Area/Units" field for that enterprise. The tool will then calculate the total variable cost for the enterprise by multiplying this per-unit/per-hectare cost by the total area/number of units.
  • Calculate & Download: Once all details are entered, click "Calculate Full Farm Budget" to see summaries. Then, click "Download (FREE)" to get your finalized report.
  • Reset Form: "Reset Form" will clear all inputs.
